Freya’s Winter Holiday Wedding at The Yarde Tavern, South Hadley
Full disclosure: Freya’s a friend. I love when I get to do makeup for my friends’ weddings (it’s how I started out, after all!) We met five years ago when she modeled for a shoot with photographer Shannon Grant – I was on board for makeup, and the result was this photo, which I still love:
We shot together many more times over the years…
(Yes, that was her in the styled wedding we did for Equally Wed! And if you ever came to my table at a wedding expo, there’s a chance you met her working as my model/assistant.)
Freya’s wedding was an intimate family affair fusing U.S. and Scandinavian traditions (her new family is Finnish). Despite all her modeling experience, she remains a low-maintenance type of gal (no wonder we get along so well): she wore her glasses, her hair down, and got married in her mother’s wedding dress. As for the look, Freya wanted soft eyes and a berry lip, which suited both the occasion and the season (her wedding took place just a few days before Christmas, on the winter solstice!)
