Styled Shoot at the Springfield Marriott Featured in Smitten Magazine

I am so proud of this team effort, now published for the second time! Last August, I teamed up with a fantastic group of wedding pros and two professional models (nope, they’re not a couple, but they fake it pretty well, amirite?) to create a wedding vision inspired by a specific tradition: the tasting of the four elements (bitter, sour, hot, and sweet), symbolizing the aspects of marriage – and life – that any couple will endure. Plus we had access to the gorgeous Marriott rooftop (on an exceptionally windy day, which made prop positioning difficult!) We finished the shoot at sunset on the Memorial Bridge.

I was on board to do makeup for both the “bride” and “groom” – here’s an iPhone before & after to show the dramatic change made by airbrush makeup, smoky earthtone metallic eyes, false lash clusters, and berry lips:

Our team was honored when Smitten Magazine agreed to publish the shoot – click here to see their photo selection. Here are my personal favorite portraits from the day:

Boudoir before & after with Dani Fine Photography

I’ve served as a makeup artist for a few boudoir sessions at Dani Fine’s studio in Northampton, and some of my brides have dropped by my own studio to get made up prior to their scheduled photo sessions as well. On a recent trip to the studio, Dani admitted that she’d had a few shoots recently without a pro makeup artist and, as a result, the retouching required to correct mistakes and blemishes ended up costing more than makeup services would have in the first place! She wanted to demonstrate to her clients the value of hiring an artist for boudoir and other professional photo sessions, and suggested doing a before & after.

I agreed that was a great idea, but cheekily suggested that she put her own face on the line. To my delight, she agreed. When the day arrived, I curled her hair and created a makeup look with a little extra boudoir-style va-va-voom: big wispy lashes and smoky eyes, with soft makeup elsewhere to showcase Dani’s naturally lovely skin.

This look was all about the eyes: lifting them upwards and outwards to make them look bigger (without overwhelming them), as well as giving them a sexy smoulder. I also did some subtle contouring to enhance Dani’s cheekbones and jawline, and lightly defined her brows. She pulled off the look beautifully:

Final touch-up before showtime!

Backyard Picnic Engagement Session, Published on Fab You Bliss

This styled e-session was shot on the same day as Eco-Chic, and was just screamingly adorable – who wouldn’t want a picnic at dusk lit by candles hung from a tree in the backyard? Keeping things local (and budget-friendly) doesn’t mean unromantic. Also featured is photographer Michelle’s highly photogenic goldendoodle puppy, Bailey (who is already twice the size shown here!)

Fab You Bliss published this little love-fest here, and my favorite images appear below:

Styled Eco-Chic Bridal Shoot Featured on Fab You Bliss

I had the distinct pleasure of taking part in several styled shoots with the incredibly talented Michelle Girard in 2012, and I’m so pleased to announce the publication of another one of our group efforts! This shoot was built around a pair of gorgeous, fair trade Celia Grace gowns and the detailed styling touches of Eutopia Events. Once again, I did makeup for both the bride & groom, but to shake things up a bit (and to add my own “shop local” element), I opted to use all mineral makeup by local business Fortunate Face Minerals. To fit the shoot’s rustic theme, I created a very soft look with sparkling eyes for the gorgeous Marcie (owner of Celia Grace), plus a bright Spring-y pop of color on her lips created by mixing two mineral colors together with a cream base.

Happily, this shoot is everywhere! Click here to view the gallery on Fab You Bliss, here to view the photographer’s selections, and here to view Eutopia’s tips on eco-friendly wedding planning. My favorite images from the day appear below:

Family photo session with Strong Coffey, Personal Trainer

Personal fitness trainer Kelly Coffey and I have been friends for years, so when she recently came to me asking to get photos taken with her two daughters at her home gym, I jumped at the perfect barter opportunity (one makeup session for one workout!) I loved the photos taken by lifestyle photographer Lynne Graves (and how cute is 2-year-old Cerys with the mini free weights?!?)

Boudoir with Dani Fine Photography in Northampton

A recent bridal client came back to get her makeup done again, this time for a boudoir session with Dani Fine Photography – what a treat for her new husband! She was kind enough to volunteer a few of the G-rated snaps that show off her sexy smoky eye makeup:

Meridith’s Engagement Session

Meridith is one of those brides I hit it off with right away – and a few weeks after her trial session for her October 2013 wedding, she came back to get glammed up for her engagement shoot. The leaves were at peak color and the results are everything I love about Autumn in New England (and sassy brides who aren’t afraid to pounce on their fiancés!) As always, Love + Perry did a stunning job on the photography – see more at their blog entry here!

Kristen’s Engagement Session by Seth Kaye Photography

Kristen’s wedding isn’t until July 2013, which made September 2012 the perfect time to shoot engagement photos! I somehow missed the photographer Seth Kaye‘s Facebook post and am delighted to be sharing the images now.

(Looks like they visited the best of downtown – who doesn’t love The Roost?? And I love that they got a jump & kiss photo right in the middle of a busy intersection!)
